Hubert Löwenheim studied medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt and Harvard Medical School in Boston. He received his doctorate in neurophysiology of hearing at the Institute of Physiology in Frankfurt under the supervision of Professor Rainer Klinke. He performed his residency in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the Department of OHNS in Tübingen and was appointed senior staff physician and later vice chair in Tübingen. After research stays at the University of Virginia (Charlottesville, USA) and the University of Washington (Seattle, USA), he habilitated in the field of regenerative medicine of hearing at the University of Tübingen. Hubert Löwenheim was Professor and Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Oldenburg from 2014-2016. In 2016, Hubert Löwenheim was appointed Professor at the University of Tübingen and has served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Tübingen since then. His clinical and research activities focus on otology, neurotology, cochlear implants, interdisciplinary skull base surgery and inner ear biology.
